Fernando Commodari, PhD

Science Teacher

Fernando or Dr. C, graduated from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, with a B.Sc. in Chemistry, and then went on to earn his M.Sc. degree in Chemistry from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario. He returned to McGill to pursue a Ph.D. in Biophysical/analytical chemistry with published work, including studies on the metabolism of BCNU, a drug used to treat brain glioblastomas, by human brain cells in culture and in vivo. He then pursued postdoctoral work at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Maryland. Dr. C has many years of teaching experience, in different settings, and greatly enjoys reaching the can-do, "Ah ha!" moments with students, and building confidence in students to help them develop into global analytical thinkers. Dr. C is a member of the American Chemical Society and American Association of Physics Teachers. When not involved with professional activities, he enjoys gardening and traveling.
